Day 35: Fredricksburg (Jonathan and Jodie) to Junction

Posted: April 16, 2014 in America: Miami to San Francisco

Thank you Jonathan and Jodie would have been great to spend the day sightseeing and having some more indepth discussions on life – p.s. I’m practicing my Mexican accent ready for later in my trip 😉

Fredricksburg – founded in 1846 and named after Prince Fredrick of Prussia – is a distinctly Germanic/Bavarian town in the heart of wine country popular with tourists. Descendants from Germany and Austrian immigrants now speak a weird fusion on Germany/Texan and local native language..

Renowned town centre:

West on 290, sunny, warm AND NO wind. 60 miles should be easy today… Famous last words!

Flying along rolling ascents/descents, sunny, beautiful blue skies and tolerable heat. An easy 26 miles in 2 hours 13 mph. Playing Leftfield – Leftism to cows/bison as I pass their fields. I’ve observed one of two reaction;  either they seem uninterested or they stampede away to a safe distance.

Stopped in Harper for lunch, chicken and onion rings. Checked emails and back on the road.

Ostriches, gazelle, zebu, llamas and goats are now being treated to some Public Enemy – that’ll learn them played out, cracker steet fools.

57 miles complete – 10 left – last hour has been superb. Racing down out the hill country for 70/80% of the time… Lovely jubbly 🙂

First Baptist Junction have put me up in ‘The Hills Motel’ for the evening thanks to a call from Sandy (a previous host) in Shady Grove.

Expenditure $17.68

Glad things are going better for you. And I am glad the people in Sonora have made contact with you. I will try to make contact with Pastor Jean again in Ozona and then with someone in Fort Stockton.

I am glad I have been able to help you.
