Today I read that in Berber tradition, if a person is experiencing a unprecedented run of bad luck and are concerned they are the victim of a curse they have a simple solution. They light a small fire and wait until the embers glow, throw in a live Chameleon and walk round the fire three times. If the sacrificial chameleon explodes they were indeed cursed but now it is broken. However if the chameleon melts into a molten multi-coloured heap then there wasn’t a curse and the person may just be having a rough week…
Don’t get me wrong, I am not an animal rights, right wing, anarchist freak BUT I did feel a bit sad for poor defenceless chameleon 😦
